How it works, and who fits the glass
The part most double glazing sites leave vague, written down: who does what, when you pay, and what you should be handed before you sign anything.

Who does what
- We publish the rates, run the estimator, arrange and pay for the measure, write the quote, hold the contract, and sign the work off at the end.
- The partner glazier measures, makes the sealed units, and fits them into your frames or replaces the window. We name them to you before they visit.
- You have one point of contact and one contract, and no obligation until you accept a written quote.
The payment schedule, in full

The 25% deposit is not built yet: it is phase two, and it will be invoiced with bank transfer offered, because card fees on a four-figure deposit are real money. Today the site takes nothing but the measure fee, and only once a glazier is contracted in your area.

The Building Act requires all three for residential building work of $30,000 or more including GST. Most retrofit jobs are under that. We give them anyway, because the point of them is that you know who you are dealing with before you pay a deposit, and that is true at $12,000 as much as at $32,000.
Consent
Retrofit and like-for-like replacement in an existing dwelling of up to two storeys are usually exempt from building consent under Schedule 1, Exemption 8, provided the window being replaced has not failed its 15-year durability requirement. Exempt work still has to comply with the Building Code. If your job needs a consent — a changed opening, or strengthening for heavier units — you find out at the measure, before you have paid a deposit.
How we choose glaziers
Before we sell a measure in an area we want a signed subcontract with a retrofit glazier there, their public liability certificate, and their sealed-unit warranty terms in writing. Membership of the Window and Glass Association New Zealand is a strong signal and we look for it. Until that is in place in your region, the buttons on this site say "join the waitlist", and they mean it.
What we do not do
- Free measures paid for by the people who buy.
- Sales visits, promotional discounts and deadlines.
- Savings claims, payback periods or heat-loss percentages for your particular house.
- Reviews, job counts, warranties or memberships we do not have.
Questions about the process
Who actually does the work?
A retrofit glazier we contract in your area makes the sealed units and fits them. We price, measure, manage and carry the contract. We name the glazier before they come to your house.
Why not just deal with the glazier directly?
You can, and we would rather say that than pretend otherwise. What we add is a price before anyone visits, one fixed quote instead of three sales visits, and one contract with a payment schedule that puts most of the money after the glass is in.
When do I pay, and how much?
$149 for the measure and quote, credited in full to a job signed within 60 days. Then 25% when you accept the quote, which pays for your units to be made, and the balance at completion.
Why is there a deposit at all?
Sealed units are made to your measurements. They cannot be resold, so they have to be paid for before they are made. 25% is what the market leader takes on acceptance, and it is what we take.
What do I get before I sign?
A written contract, a disclosure statement and the MBIE consumer protection checklist. The Building Act requires those for residential building work of $30,000 or more including GST; we give them on every job.
Do I need a building consent?
Usually not for retrofit in an existing dwelling of up to two storeys (Schedule 1, Exemption 8), provided the window being replaced hasn't failed its 15-year durability requirement. Exempt work must still meet the Building Code, and the glazier flags anything that takes your job out of the exemption at the measure. The conditions in full.
What are my rights if something goes wrong?
